A chance of rain with a bit of sunshine is expected across the majority of the Magnolia State today along with typical hot summer temperatures.

Northern Mississippi:

Sunny skies will be seen throughout most of the northern portion of Mississippi today despite some showers and thunderstorms at various times of the day. Temperatures are expected to sit in the mid-90s with heat index readings from 107 to 112 degrees. As night falls, a portion of clouds will still be present in the sky as temperatures lower back down to the mid-70s.

Central Mississippi:

Weather in central Mississippi is expected to be mostly sunny throughout the day with heat index readings ranging from 109 to 114. Showers and thunderstorms will be seen in both the morning and afternoon with some occasional sunlight peeking through. Like a typical summer day in the Magnolia State, temperatures will be in the mid-90s across most of the day. When the sun sets, the temperatures will drop to the upper-70s with mostly clear skies expected throughout the night.

Southern Mississippi:

A good bit of sun will be seen in the southern parts of Mississippi today as temperatures are anticipated to sit in the low to mid-90s. The summer heat will return as the sun appears, with the heat index expecting temperature readings ranging from 105 to 110. Some showers and thunderstorms will be seen in the morning through the afternoon, but the skies should clear as temperatures drop back down to the upper 70s overnight.
