Afternoon heat indices will near 105 degrees in many locations through the end of the week, with some locations possibly exceeding this threshold. Be sure to stay hydrated, avoid strenuous outdoor activities, take frequent breaks and never leave pets or kids in hot cars.

Northern Mississippi–

Sunny with a slight chance of afternoon showers and thunderstorms. Highs in the upper 90s. Heat index readings from 106-111. Mostly clear with lows in the mid to upper 70s tonight.

Central Mississippi–

Slight chance of showers and thunderstorms through this afternoon with highs in the mid to upper 90s. Heat index readings from 106-111. You could see showers and thunderstorms tonight with lows in the mid-70s.

Southern Mississippi–

Showers and thunderstorms are possible through this afternoon with highs in the mid-90s. Heat index readings from 107 to 112, Showers and thunderstorms are possible again tonight with lows in the mid-70s.
