Severe storms capable of damaging wind gusts and large hail will be possible this afternoon and evening in parts of Mississippi. According to the National Weather Service in Jackson, a brief tornado cannot be ruled out.

Northern Mississippi–

Partly sunny today with showers likely this morning, and a chance of thunderstorms during the day. Highs will be near 80. Mostly cloudy with showers and thunderstorms likely tonight. Lows will be in the mid-60s.

Central Mississippi–

Becoming mostly sunny today, with a chance of showers and thunderstorms through the afternoon, some could be severe. Highs will be in the upper 80s. Showers and thunderstorms are likely again this evening, some could be severe. Lows will be in the upper 60s.

Southern Mississippi–

Mostly sunny with showers and thunderstorms possible through this afternoon. Highs today will be in the lower 90s, with heat index readings between 102-107. The becoming mostly cloudy tonight with a slight chance of showers and thunderstorms. Lows will be in the lower to mid-70s.
