234 new COVID-19 cases confirmed with 22 additional deaths

The Mississippi State Department of Health has confirmed a slight uptick in the state’s total number of COVID-19 cases today.

234 new cases bring Mississippi’s total up to 9,908 and with 22 additional deaths, a total of 457 Mississippians have passed away due to the virus. Of the deaths reported this morning, 7 were identified from death certificates between April 25 and May 3.

Today’s numbers represent a slight increase after less than 200 new cases had been confirmed in each of the last two days.

At this time, 1,239 cases and 208 deaths have been reported in long-term care facilities in Mississippi.

96,426 people have been tested for COVID-19 in Mississippi.

As of Monday, 6,268 Mississippians had recovered from the virus. For additional data from the MSDH, click here.
