Over 40 drug-related arrests were recently made in a span of four days, the Mississippi Attorney General’s Office announced.
Attorney General Lynn Fitch announced the completion of Operation Liberty Strike on Monday, an operation headed by her Fentanyl Strike Force. Founded in 2023, the strike force has over 800 law enforcement officers who have been trained to handle fentanyl cases.
Of the most recent arrests made in Harrison County, Biloxi, Picayune, and Lamar County, 28 of them were felonies and 12 were misdemeanors.
During the busts that took place June 3-4 and June 10-11, six search warrants were executed, resulting in the seizure of half a pound of fentanyl, one and a half pounds of marijuana, 12 ounces of methamphetamine, and eight firearms.
“We will not tolerate predators peddling death in our communities. Operations like this bring together federal, state, and local law enforcement to take dangerous criminals off our streets,” Fitch said. “I am grateful for the opportunity to collaborate to make Mississippi safer for everyone.”
