Six people were killed in a mass shooting that took place in the town of Arkabutla on Friday.

According to Tate County Sheriff Brad Lance, the shooter allegedly began his shooting at a store and shot a man with a gun.

The shooter then went to a nearby home and shot a woman, then arrived at a home on Arkabutla Dam Road and shot and killed two people there.

A Tate County deputy noticed a car that fit the suspect’s description and attempted to stop him. The suspect did not stop his car, causing a chase.

Officials say the shooter pulled into the driveway of another nearby home where he was apprehended. At the house, authorities found one person dead in a car and another deceased in the roadway.

Lance believes the shooter lived at the Arkabutla Dam Road location.
