The Mississippi State Department of Health is reporting the lowest number of new COVID-19 cases since March 2020 and zero additional deaths.
The latest report of 37—which does follow the trend of lower case counts on Mondays—brings the state’s total up to 309,223. To date, 7,153 Mississippians have passed away from the virus.
Over the weekend, State Health Officer Dr. Thomas Dobbs did warn of rising indicators while urging all Mississippians to get vaccinated.

Entering the week, Mississippi is approaching 1.6 million administered doses of the COVID-19. While the Johnson & Johnson vaccine does remain on pause, it won’t slow down the state’s efforts as the MSDH-run sites primarily use Moderna and Pfizer. Make your appointment at covidvaccine.umc.edu.
