The two suspects that were allegedly involved in the mass shooting at the Mississippi Mudbug Festival have pleaded not guilty.

According to court documents, 16-year-old Calvin Berry and Leedrick Trim stated that they were not guilty of their charges, which included one count of murder, one count of drive-by shooting, and eight counts of aggravated assault.

On April 30, 2022, police responded to the Mississippi Fairgrounds after gunshots were heard during Blue Öyster Cult’s set, leading to swarms of people rushing into the Mississippi Coliseum.

In total, the incident resulted in five injuries and the death of the third suspect, 16-year-old Carmello Brumfield, who was killed by an off-duty Edwards police officer. Officers recovered several firearms from the scene, including one pistol, two rifles, and numerous shell casings.

The remainder of the festival, which was set to feature a performance by two-time GRAMMY-winning artist Bobby Rush, was canceled for the weekend.

Now, Berry and Trim have been ordered by Judge Faye Peterson to be held at Henley-Patton Youth Detention Center without bond. Both suspects will stand trial in May.
