Residents planning to submit an absentee ballot ahead of congressional primaries in Mississippi will soon have a couple of weekend opportunities to do so.
On Saturday, Feb. 28, and Saturday, March 7, circuit clerk offices statewide will be open from 8 a.m. until noon for in-person absentee voting. Circuit clerk offices will also be open to absentee voters during normal business hours Monday through Friday leading into the final day to vote absentee, which is Saturday, March 7. For those absentee voting by mail, ballots must be postmarked on or before the election date of Tuesday, March 10.
Eligible reasons for voting absentee include, but are not limited to, being out of town on Election Day, living with a disability, or being older than 65.
The U.S. Senate seat currently held by Republican Cindy Hyde-Smith and all of four of the state’s U.S. House seats will be on the ballot this year. Each House seat, apart from District 3, has contested primaries both on the Republican and Democratic sides.
Residents can use the My Election Day portal to receive election information tailored to their address, including sample ballots. More information on absentee voting can be found here.
