Bond has been denied for the teenager accused of killing an elderly couple and shooting a deputy in Simpson County.
17-year-old Cordarius Laray Hobbs faces 13 charges, including capital murder, for allegedly breaking into a home in Mendenhall and taking the lives of 74-year-old Bill Blair and his 71-year-old wife, Carol Blair, on Wednesday.
When officers arrived at the scene to conduct a welfare check, Hobbs reportedly opened fire at law enforcement before barricading himself inside the home. A multi-agency effort ultimately resulted in tear gas being deployed, which drove the teen out of the home.

Hobbs did not go down without a fight, however, as police say he fired another round at authorities while trying to flee on foot. The suspect was ultimately apprehended at the scene, but not before both he and an unidentified deputy suffered gunshot wounds. Both are expected to make a full recovery.
The teenager is being held inside the Rankin County Jail, and the Mississippi Bureau of Investigation is assessing the officer-involved shooting.
