Former Ole Miss and Jackson State football player D.D. Bowie was killed in a weekend shooting in Rankin County.
According to the Rankin County Sheriff’s Office, deputies responded just after 6 p.m. Friday to a report of a disturbance that escalated into gunfire in the 100 block of Adams Road in the northern part of the county. Upon arrival, deputies found a 27-year-old man – later identified as Idarrious “D.D.” Iantron Bowie – suffering from multiple gunshot wounds.
Bowie was transported to a local hospital, where he later succumbed to his injuries. Meanwhile, investigators processed the crime scene, collected evidence, and conducted witness interviews.
One firearm was recovered, and witnesses told investigators that multiple occupants had fled the scene in a small gray passenger car.
Within hours of the shooting, investigators arrested Ladarious Harrison, 18, and Dominic Sanabria, 19, charging both with murder. Semiko Crump, 46, and Kaylee Trimble, 18, were arrested shortly after and charged with accessory after the fact. Michael Jerome Mitchell, 19, was later arrested and also charged with accessory after the fact.

Sheriff Bryan Bailey commended the swift actions of deputies and investigators, whose “efforts led to the rapid identification and arrest of the suspects.” He also assured the public that the shooting appeared to be an isolated incident.
“Violence has no place in our community,” Bailey said. “This senseless act has left a family grieving and a community searching for answers. We remain committed to pursuing justice for the victim, holding those responsible fully accountable, and continuing our mission of keeping Rankin County a safe place to live, work, and raise a family.”
Bowie was one of the top Mississippi prospects in the class of 2016 out of Morton High School, earning a 4-star ranking from multiple outlets and a U.S. Army All-American nod. He played in nine games at defensive back as a freshman at Ole Miss before transferring to Jackson State, playing as a wide receiver during the 2019 season. He had 35 receptions for 512 yards and five touchdowns with the Tigers.
