Five arrests have been made connected to a Fourth of July mass shooting in Centreville that killed two people and injured seven.
The Wilkinson County Sheriff’s Office confirmed that four of the arrests were made in Louisiana and one in Ohio. In Louisiana, the following individuals were handcuffed: Kaden Anderson, 19; Zavier Augustine, 19; Christian Johnson, 23; and Zychavion VanNorman, 19
The arrests were carried out by the Louisiana State Police Fugitive Task Force and the Ascension Parish Sheriff’s Office. Meanwhile, in Ohio, U.S. Marshals took Larry Smith Jr., 23, into custody on a fugitive warrant for murder. All five suspects will be extradited to Mississippi to face state charges.
As for the shooting, the gunfire rang out near the Orchard Café on Highway 24 at approximately 12:55 a.m. on July 4. Law enforcement officials say they were notified after multiple gunshot victims arrived by private vehicle at Fields Health System hospital. Nine people had been shot, with two later dying from their injuries.
The deceased were identified as Dekevion Andrews, 19, and Donovan Jackson, 22. Those injured were identified as Jerryon Roger, 20; Cameron Robinson, 18; Latelvin Henyard, 19; and four juveniles ages 14 to 17.
Days after the shooting, Centreville Mayor Demetria Allen-Hudson issued a curfew that is still in effect. The curfew is running from 10 p.m. to 6 a.m. seven days a week until further notice.
In the meantime, law enforcement officials continue to investigate the mass shooting.
