Another inmate has died in state prison

58-year-old Herman David Wiley died Saturday at Merit Health Central.  He is the 36th inmate since January 26th to die while in state custody.

Wiley was serving time for committed two different sex crimes in DeSoto County 21 years ago and was being housed at the Central Mississippi Correctional Facility in Rankin County.

No foul play is suspected and an autopsy is being done to determine the official cause and the manner of his death.

Wiley was convicted of two counts of fondling a child and two counts of sexual battery and was sentenced to serve a total of 30 years in June of 1999.

He was set to be released in 2029.
