Law enforcement in Jones County said it recovered 10 firearms and devices to make the guns automatic after pulling over a vehicle operated by a naked woman.
The Ellisville Police Department reported that officers stopped the vehicle along Hill Street after noticing that a female driver was driving “really slowly” and erratically. Once the woman, identified as 22-year-old Katelyn Maxwell, pulled over, police noted that she was completely nude and that several modified firearms were in the automobile with her.
Narcotics specialists with the Jones County Sheriff’s Department were then called to the scene.
“I got a call from patrol that Ellisville had made a traffic stop on a naked female,” Sgt. Chase Smith told the Laurel Leader-Call. “She was butt-naked when they pulled her over. She was holding a glass can, and they smelled the odor of marijuana, which ultimately led to the search of the vehicle, where they found several firearms believed to have been modified.”
Authorities at the scene reported that they began questioning Maxwell about the firearms, which led to officials obtaining a search warrant for the suspect’s boyfriend, 24-year-old Shon Cooley.
Law enforcement went to Cooley’s home to execute the warrant, but he was not there when police arrived. Deputies remained at the location until Cooley eventually showed up. He was then arrested, with deputies noting that he was possessing a pistol.

Maxwell is charged with DUI, possession of marijuana in a motor vehicle while in possession of a firearm, careless driving, and possession of a modified firearm. Cooley is charged with possession of illegally modified firearms. Both were transported to the Jones County Adult Detention Center.
The conversion-devices are reported to have been sent to the Mississippi Crime Lab in Pearl for further examination. More arrests are possible in this case.
