The Mississippi Emergency Management Agency is continuing to assess damage from severe storms and flooding brought to the state last week by remnants of Tropical Storm Arthur. As of Friday afternoon, 486 homes across 10 counties were reporting damage.
MEMA provided the following numbers, noting they will go up as more assessments are conducted:

- Covington County: 5 homes, 1 business, 10 roads
- Franklin County: 1 fatality
- George County: 1 home, 7 roads, 1 bridge
- Hancock County: 29 homes, 3 farms, 5 roads, 1 bridge
- Harrison County: 274 homes, 5 businesses, 8 roads
- Jackson County: 12 homes
- Pearl River County: 41 homes, 1 business, 7 roads
- Rankin County: 2 homes
- Stone County: 121 homes, 34 roads
- Wilkinson County: 1 home, 1 road
Damage categories range from affected to destroyed.
Of the homes affected, MEMA said 116 were destroyed, 134 sustained major damage, and 147 sustained minor damage. The other 89 were categorized as affected, meaning there was lesser damage like broken gutters, missing siding, or torn roof shingles.
Additional assessments remain underway in Forrest, Greene, Lawrence, and Walthall counties.
MEMA encourages residents who sustained property damage to file an insurance claim, take photos of the damage, and report it to their county and MEMA through the self-report digital tool. Victims with immediate, unmet needs are encouraged to contact their county emergency agency. A list of county emergency agency contacts can be found here.
