One person is dead and a suspect is in custody after a shooting at Ingalls Shipbuilding on Friday morning.
Officials with the Pascagoula Police Department said gunfire rang out at the shipyard at 7:32 a.m. Ingalls alerted all employees to shelter in place due to an active shooter situation.
Around 9 a.m., police identified 25-year-old Curtis James Jr., of Mobile, Ala., as the suspect and took him into custody. The victim was identified as 27-year-old Tahj Johnson, of Pritchard, Ala.
Investigators believe an altercation between the two men earlier in the week could have led to the shooting. No other injuries were reported.
