A Biloxi woman faces up to 20 years in prison for slashing a man’s throat with a box cutter.
District Attorney W. Crosby Parker announced on Tuesday that Candra Beth Clark, 44, was convicted on May 28. Clark was found guilty of one count of aggravated assault after a two-day trial.
According to Assistant District Attorney Meaghan J. Smith, on March 21, 2025, Clark verbally confronted an unidentified male victim, who was speaking with a friend outside of Hotel Legends, before cutting the individual’s throat with a box cutter, causing a severe wound.
The jury heard from the responding officer who recovered the box cutter and apprehended Clark within an hour of the incident.
Additionally, the jury heard Clark’s testimony and an eye witness, as well as lead investigator Melissa Hoelzer with the Biloxi Police Department. Hoelzer secured video footage of the assault, further strengthening the case. Clark later confessed to the assault claiming she was “disrespected” and stated that she was a “cutter of men who disrespect women.”
After a 30 minute deliberation, the jury returned with a guilty verdict. Clark awaits a sentencing date of July 16, 2026 where she will face up to 20 years of service in the Mississippi Department of Corrections.
