Almost a year after an infant child died in Corinth, the child’s mother has been taken into custody.
Amanda Mitchell, 39, was arrested by the Corinth Police Department on Aug. 29 and charged in connection with the November 2024 death of her child.
A nearly nine-month investigation culminated with autopsy results showing the child’s death was accidental. However, the cause of death was from fentanyl and methamphetamine exposure.
Mitchell was charged with manslaughter by culpable negligence and possession of methamphetamine. The maximum sentence for her alleged role in the child’s death is 20 years, while prison time for the possession charge varies.
