For the third day in a row, the Mississippi State Department of Health has confirmed over 2,000 new cases of COVID-19.

Thursday’s report includes 2,326 new coronavirus positive test results, as well as 24 additional deaths. So far, 4,556 Mississippians have passed away due to the virus.

Due to today being Christmas Eve, State Health Officer Dr. Thomas Dobbs is continuing to encourage people to keep celebrations small and recognize that anyone we are in contact with could be a carrier of the virus.

The current executive order, recently updated by Governor Tate Reeves, limits indoor crowds to 10 or fewer people.

Unfortunately, hospitalizations also continue to climb as a record-high 1,312 individuals are currently hospitalized due to the coronavirus.
