The Mississippi Highway Patrol is investigating after a police chase in Jackson ended with one person dying.
According to the Capitol Police Department, officers witnessed a vehicle traveling at a high rate of speed Monday at approximately 9:17 p.m. in the area of Northside Drive. Upon officers trying to initiate a traffic stop, the driver refused to pull over and attempted to evade police.
A brief chase ended with the vehicle crashing on West Northside Drive near Edwards Avenue. The driver, whose identity has not been released at this time, sustained fatal injuries and was pronounced dead on the scene.
The investigation remains open with CPD not providing further information at this time.
