A federal inmate in Mississippi was found dead early Sunday morning, officials said.
Staff at the prison discovered 28-year-old Adrian Kordell McCleary unresponsive at the Federal Correctional Institution (FCI) Yazoo City Medium around 12:10 a.m. Staff and emergency medical personnel attempted life-saving measures, but McCleary was later pronounced dead.
The FBI was notified of the death, authorities said. No prison employees or other inmates were injured, and at no time was the public in danger.
McCleary was serving a 56-month federal sentence after being convicted in Utah for being a felon in possession of a firearm and ammunition. He has been in custody at the Yazoo City facility since October 2024.
The incident remains under investigation by the FBI and prison officials.
It’s the second time in as many months an inmate at the FCI Yazoo City Medium has died. In December, Develon Lashonie Cunningham was found unresponsive and transported to a hospital, where he passed away.
