Former Ole Miss star A.J. Brown becomes highest-paid receiver in NFL history

With an average salary of $32 million, A.J. Brown’s extension eclipses previous records set by the Detroit Lions’ Amon-Ra St. Brown and the Miami Dolphins’ Tyreek Hill, both earning approximately $30 million per season (Photo from the Philadelphia Eagles)

A.J. Brown got his deal.

After an unsuccessful attempt to get paid by the Tennessee Titans almost two years ago to the day, the Starkville native was shipped to Philadelphia where he signed a four-year, $100 million contract. On Thursday night, the Eagles announced they had inked the star to a three-year, $96 million extension with $84 million guaranteed.

The extension makes Brown the highest-paid wide receiver in NFL history at $32 million per year as he continues to rewrite the record books both on and off the field. His alma mater, Ole Miss, celebrated with the following social media post.

The three-time Pro Bowler has surpassed 1,000 receiving yards in four out of his five seasons in the NFL with his first two seasons in Philadelphia being his best yet. In 2022, Brown had 1,496 yards with 11 touchdowns before following it up with a 2023 encore that included 1,456 yards and seven touchdowns.

Brown holds the NFL record for most consecutive games (6) with 125-plus receiving yards, a record he set in 2023. He also holds Philadelphia single-season franchise marks for most receptions by a receiver and most receiving yards all while becoming the first Eagle ever to have more than 1,400 yards in back-to-back seasons.
