The trend of firearms being brought to Mississippi schools continued with a Hancock High School student getting arrested for possessing a gun on campus.
WLOX reports that parents of students at the high school were informed Thursday morning via text message that an unidentified youth brought a handgun to campus after hours on Wednesday.
According to Hancock County Sheriff Ricky Adam, the firearm was reported to authorities after a social media post of the teen displaying the gun at school was noticed by others.
Authorities took the student into custody at his home Wednesday night. The student’s parents are said to be cooperating with law enforcement.
