Each of the four Hinds County chancellors recused themselves from a lawsuit filed by Jackson Women’s Health Organization, the state’s only abortion clinic, seeking to prevent the state’s trigger law from being implemented.

Judges Denise Owens, Crystal Wise Martin, J. Dewayne Thomas, and Tiffany Grove didn’t just recuse themselves from the lawsuit but also requested for the Mississippi Supreme Court to appoint a special judge to hear the case.

On Tuesday, the clinic filed a request for a temporary restraining order.

If implemented by the court, the order would suspend the trigger law that would prohibit most abortions in Mississippi. It would also discontinue an additional law that would forbid abortions after the sixth week of pregnancy.
