Pearl Day is returning this weekend with a star-studded entertainment lineup on the docket.
Multi-platinum rock band Daughtry will conclude a day packed full of free family-friendly activities and outdoor festivities on Saturday in Trustmark Park’s north parking lot. The free concert will begin with fellow rock band Hinder opening at 7 p.m., followed by Daughtry at 8:45 p.m.
Daughtry, headed by former “American Idol” fan-favorite Chris Daughtry, has sold out concert venues across the globe. Best known for songs “Home” and “It’s Not Over,” the band’s self-titled debut album, “Daughtry,” was the top-selling album of 2007 and the fastest-selling rock debut in history. The album earned four Grammy nominations and won four American Music Awards and seven Billboard Music Awards, including Album of the Year.
Hinder, a multi-platinum American rock band best known for its generational hit “Lips of an Angel,” will take the stage before Daughtry. The band’s debut album, “Extreme Behavior,” climbed to No. 6 on the Billboard 200 and has since been certified platinum three times. Their follow-up album, “Take It To The Limit,” peaked at No. 4 on the Billboard 200 and solidified the band’s presence on the global rock stage.

“Bringing Daughtry to headline Pearl Day, with Hinder joining the lineup, is an incredible opportunity for our community,” Pearl Mayor Jake Windham said. “These nationally recognized rock bands will deliver a concert experience you’d typically only find in major markets, and we’re proud to provide it free for our residents and guests.”
Plenty to do before the main acts
Before Hinder and Daughtry get started, Pearl City Park off Highway 80 will facilitate the fun for a younger audience. Pearl Day at the Park will serve as a prequel to the nightcap, running from 9 a.m. until 4 p.m.
Pearl Day at the Park will feature food vendors, games, face painting, inflatables, arts and crafts, and live music from local artists Brian Ballou, Brian Brock, and Mason Lasseter.
