A man who is accused of shooting a police officer in Bolivar County earlier this week has been taken into custody.

Stanley Self, Jr., 23, was arrested on Thursday by U.S. Marshals at an apartment complex in Brandon. He’s been charged with attempted murder and felon in possession of a firearm with additional charges pending.

The Mississippi Bureau of Investigation issued a Blue Alert on Tuesday after an officer-involved shooting in Mound Bayou left State Trooper Ryan Watson shot in the arm. Watson is expected to make a full recovery, according to the MBI.

Self’s girlfriend, Sadie Dancy of Memphis, was also arrested and charged with child restraint violation. More charges for Dancy, 27, are expected to come.
