A Mississippi Pine Belt man has been placed behind bars for allegedly murdering his sister.
Taebyus Amaud Smith, 35, was arrested on Sunday by Petal Police in connection to the shooting death of 21-year-old Ed’Lauryn “LaLa” Kimbreun Baylis. Family members of both individuals confirmed on social media that the two are brother and sister.
Authorities confirm that the gunfire rang out on 230 West Fourth Avenue and was the first murder to occur in the city in four years.
Hattiesburg police and the Forrest County Sheriff’s Office assisted in this case. At this time, a motive has not been reported for the shooting.
