Mississippi will be more than well-represented in the upcoming NCAA Division III softball and baseball tournaments.
Student-athletes, coaches, and fans gathered at Belhaven on Monday to see where they would be placed in the postseason picture. The Blazers softball team, which fell just shy of a national title a season ago, landed in the Marshall Regional as a two-seed behind host East Texas Baptist. The regional could see a rematch of last year’s championship, in which ETBU defeated Belhaven in three games. Other teams competing in the regional are No. 3 St. Thomas (TX) and No. 4 Marymount (VA).

Belhaven will begin regional play on Thursday, May 15, against St. Thomas. First pitch is set for 1:30 p.m.

The Blazers baseball team was included in the selection show for the first time in program history, landing in the Webster Regional. Other teams included are top-seed Webster, Rhodes, and Milwaukee School of Engineering. Game times have not yet been announced.
Belhaven won’t be the only baseball team from Mississippi looking to make a run. A rain-soaked weekend in part prevented Millsaps from securing an SAA Tournament trophy. But the Majors’ resume was good enough to earn an at-large bid, their first NCAA tournament berth since 2015.
Millsaps was placed in the East Texas Baptist Regional, alongside ETBU, Trinity (TX), and Huntingdon. Game times have not yet been announced, but regional play is scheduled to begin on Saturday, May 16.
