This morning, the Mississippi State Department of Health reported 1,263 new cases of COVID-19.

Today’s report—which follows the trend of lower case totals on Mondays—brings the state’s total up to 166,194. No deaths were included in today’s report. To date, 3,961 Mississippians have now passed away from the virus.

Hospital data has not been updated since Friday. Last week, COVID-19-related hospitalizations reached an all-item high, surpassing the summer peak.

As it stands, 54 Mississippi counties are under a mask mandate and stricter social distancing guidelines as part of Governor Reeves’ “Safe Recovery” order. The governor tweeted this morning that he’ll share an update to the order, which is set to expire on the 11th, later this week.

Last week, the MSDH issued new public health guidance asking all Mississippians to avoid non-essential gatherings such as weddings, funerals, parties and large church services.
