MSDH confirms 1,395 new COVID-19 cases, 19 deaths

The Mississippi State Department of Health is reporting 1,395 new COVID-19 cases. 

Today’s report — the second straight day over 1,000 new cases — brings the state’s total up to 138,791. With the confirmation of *19 additional deaths, 3,619 Mississippians have now passed away from the virus.

Overall hospitalizations have risen above 800 for the first time since the peak of the summer months. 

As of Monday, 116,683 Mississippians have recovered from COVID-19.

We’re one week away from Thanksgiving, and health officials continue to warn that large gatherings will likely lead to increased transmission of the virus. An infectious diseases specialist at UMMC recently released a few tips for how to safely celebrate the holiday this year.
