The Mississippi State Department of Health is reporting 145 new cases of COVID-19.

Today’s report brings the state’s total number of cases up to 90,018. With the confirmation of *9 additional deaths, 2,706 Mississippians have now passed away from the virus.

*MSDH Note: All 9 deaths occurred between August 26 and September 4, identified from death certificate reports.

Hospital data has not yet been updated in today’s report.

The MSDH is now able to estimate that 78,971 Mississippians have recovered from the virus.

While the statewide mask mandate is set to expire today, Governor Tate Reeves stated last week that the order would likely be extended in an effort to further drive down Mississippi’s case count.
