The Mississippi State Department of Health is reporting one of the state’s highest one-day increases in new COVID-19 cases with 1,612.

Today’s report brings the state’s total number of cases up to 123,887. With the confirmation of 8 additional deaths, 3,405 Mississippians have now passed away from the virus.

Hospitalizations saw another slight uptick in the most recent data from the MSDH.

The number of active outbreaks in Mississippi long-term care facilities dropped from 131 to 111 in today’s report.

As a reminder, 16 counties remain under a mask mandate and stricter social distancing guidelines as a result of a recent executive order enacted by Governor Tate Reeves.
