MSDH confirms 1,616 new COVID-19 cases, 13 deaths

The Mississippi State Department of Health is reporting 1,616 new cases of COVID-19. 

Today’s report brings the state’s total number of cases up to 223,677. With the confirmation of 13 additional deaths, 4,884 Mississippians have now passed away from the virus. 

*MSDH Note: 10 COVID-19 related deaths occurred between December 6 and December 28, identified from death certificate reports.

Hospital data has not been updated since December 30th as overall hospitalizations approached 1,400 and patients in ICU beds and on ventilators continued to rise. 

An estimated 182,103 Mississippians have recovered from COVID-19.
