MSDH confirms 1,702 new COVID-19 cases, 64 deaths

The Mississippi State Department of Health is reporting 1,702 new cases of COVID-19.

Today’s report brings the state’s total up to 256,827. With the confirmation of 64 additional deaths, 5,638 Mississippians have now passed away from the virus.

*MSDH Note: 4 COVID-19 related deaths occurred between January 8 and January 14, identified from death certificate reports.

After one day below the mark, overall hospitalizations rose back above 1,200 in the latest data from the MSDH.

As of Monday, the MSDH estimates that 207,769 Mississippians have recovered from COVID-19.

A total of 138,676 Mississippians have been vaccinated against the virus, including 11,721 that gave received both doses.
