MSDH confirms 1,732 new COVID-19 cases, 56 deaths

The Mississippi State Department of Health is reporting 1,732 new cases of COVID-19. 

Today’s report brings the state’s total up to 167,926. With the confirmation of *56 additional deaths, 4,017 Mississippians have now passed away from the virus. 

*MSDH Note: 14 COVID-19 related deaths occurred between November 8 and December 2, identified from death certificate reports.

Overall COVID-19-related hospitalizations in Mississippi have surpassed 1,100 for the first time during the pandemic. 

As of Monday, 136,627 Mississippians have recovered from COVID-19. 

Tuesday, State Health Officer Dr. Thomas Dobbs stated that Mississippi may have its first 25,000 doses of the vaccine by next week.
