MSDH confirms 2,343 new COVID-19 case, 42 deaths

The Mississippi State Department of Health is reporting 2,343 new cases of COVID-19. 

Today’s report brings the state’s total number of cases up to 185,643. With the confirmation of 42 additional deaths, 4,294 Mississippians have passed away from the virus. 

*MSDH: 9 COVID-19 related deaths occurred between November 13 and December 8, identified from death certificate reports.

Overall hospitalizations continue to climb and have now surpassed 1,200. 

As of Monday, 148,466 Mississippians have recovered from COVID-19. 

Remember, 61 of Mississippi’s 82 counties are currently under a mask mandate:

Adams, Alcorn, Amite, Attala, Bolivar, Calhoun, Carroll, Chickasaw, Choctaw, Clarke, Clay, Coahoma, Copiah, Covington, De Soto, Forrest, Franklin, Grenada, Harrison, Hinds, Holmes, Itawamba, Jackson, Jefferson, Jefferson Davis, Jones, Kemper, Lafayette, Lamar, Lauderdale, Lawrence, Lee, Leflore, Lincoln, Lowndes, Madison, Marion, Marshall, Monroe, Montgomery, Neshoba, Noxubee, Oktibbeha, Panola, Pearl River, Perry, Pontotoc, Prentiss, Rankin, Scott, Simpson, Stone, Tate, Tippah, Tishomingo, Union, Washington, Webster, Winston, Yalobusha, and Yazoo.

Statewide, indoor gatherings are limited to ten people while outdoor gatherings have a limit of 50 or less.
