MSDH confirms 263 new COVID-19 cases, 16 additional deaths

For the second straight day, the Mississippi State Department of Health has reported more than 250 new cases of COVID-19. 

The confirmation of 263 new COVID-19 cases brings Mississippi’s total to 11,967. 16 additional deaths have also been reported, meaning that 570 Mississippians have tragically passed away due to the virus. 

According to an MSDH chart, the number of hospitalizations has experienced a slight increase in recent days along with ICU beds and ventilators in use.

According to the MSDH, there are currently 87 outbreaks in long-term care facilities in Mississippi. An outbreak is defined as “one or more cases among staff or residents.”

To date, 1,568 cases and 281 deaths have been confirmed in LTC facilities.
