MSDH confirms 273 new COVID-19 cases, 17 additional deaths

The Mississippi State Department of Health is reporting 273 new cases of COVID-19. 

Today’s report brings the state’s total number of cases up to 13,731. 652 Mississippians have tragically passed away due to the virus with the confirmation of  17 additional deaths.

*MSDH Note – * 8 confirmed COVID-19 related deaths between May 13 and May 18 were identified through death certificate reports.

The MSDH is also reporting 121 outbreaks in Mississippi long-term care facilities. An outbreak is defined as “one or more cases among staff or residents”. State health officials are currently executing a plan to test all LTC residents and employees. 

As of Monday, 9,401 Mississippians have recovered from COVID-19.
