The Mississippi State Department of Health is reporting 301 new cases of COVID-19.
The latest report brings the state’s total up to 295,295. With the confirmation of 44 additional deaths, 6,724 Mississippians have now passed away from the virus.
*MSDH Note: 25 COVID-19 related deaths occurred between January 4 and February 24, identified from death certificate reports.
Overall hospitalizations continue to plummet in the latest data from the MSDH.
Despite the recent optimism with case numbers and hospitalizations declining, the MSDH is urging you to remain vigilant.
“MSDH urgently recommends that all residents of Mississippi avoid any social gathering that includes individuals outside of the immediate family or household. MSDH recommends that Mississippians only participate in work, school or other absolutely essential activities, and avoid gatherings such as social events, sporting events, in-person church services, and weddings and funerals unless they involve only close family (preferably outdoors),” their website reads.
Governor Tate Reeves will hold a press conference this afternoon to update the state’s restrictions and vaccine distribution efforts.
