MSDH confirms 498 new COVID-19 cases; state’s largest one-day rise

The Mississippi State Department of Health is reporting the state’s largest one-day rise in the number of new COVID-19 cases. 

This morning’s report of 498 new cases brings the state’s total number of cases up to 17,768. 837 Mississippians have passed away due to the virus following this morning’s confirmation of 20 additional deaths. 

*MSDH Note 9 confirmed COVID-19 related deaths between May 13 and June 1 were identified through death certificate reports.

A graph from the MSDH also shows that hospitalizations, along with ICU bed and ventilator use also saw increases. 

To date, 13,356 Mississippians have now recovered from COVID-19.
