MSDH confirms 552 new COVID-19 cases, 12 additional deaths

The Mississippi State Department of Health is reporting 552 new cases of COVID-19.

Today’s report brings the state’s total number of cases up to 98,190. With the confirmation of *12 additional deaths, 2,969 Mississippians have passed away from the virus.

*MSDH Note: 2 COVID-19 related deaths occurred between September 5 and September 16, identified from death certificate reports.

In the latest data from the MSDH, overall hospitalizations did see a slight increase but remain under 500.

The statewide mask mandate is set to expire this afternoon at 5 p.m unless Governor Tate Reeves chooses to extend it. Under the current order, restaurants, retail shops and gyms were able to expand their capacity limits to 75%.
