MSDH confirms 705 new COVID-19 cases, 11 deaths

The Mississippi State Department of Health is reporting under 1,000 new cases of COVID-19. 

Continuing the trend of lower case totals on Mondays, the latest report of 705 new cases brings the state’s total up to 275,706. With the confirmation of 11 additional deaths, 6,056 Mississippians have now passed away from the virus. 

*MSDH Note: 10 COVID-19 related deaths occurred between December 30, 2020 and January 23, 2021, identified from death certificate reports.

Hospital data has yet to be updated after overall hospitalizations continued to decline heading into the weekend. 

To date, 243,890 doses of the COVID-19 vaccine have been administered in Mississippi. 

Governor Tate Reeves recently explained that the state’s allocation is now expected to increase to around 43,000 doses per week, up from 37,000.
