MSDH confirms 784 new COVID-19 cases, 25 deaths

New COVID-19 cases remain below 1,000 in the latest report from the Mississippi State Department of Health. 

Today’s report of 784 new cases brings the state’s total up to 283,753. With the confirmation of 25 additional deaths, 6,367 Mississippians have now passed away from the virus. 

*MSDH Note: 15 COVID-19 related deaths occurred between January 15 and February 3, identified from death certificate reports.

Overall hospitalizations continue to decline, dropping below 700 for the first time since mid-November. 

As of Monday, an estimated 253,140 Mississippians have recovered from the virus. Tuesday, Governor Tate Reeves highlighted a milestone in the state’s vaccine rollout as the number of administered first doses has surpassed the number of positive cases. A total of 350,348 doses have given.
