MSDH confirms state’s largest one-day rise in COVID-19 cases

The Mississippi State Department of Health is reporting the state’s largest one-day increase in new COVID-19 cases. 

The latest report of 1,972 new cases brings the state’s total up to 142,401. With the confirmation of 15 additional deaths, *3,657 Mississippians have now passed away from the virus.

*MSDH Note: 6 COVID-19 related death occurred between October 31 to November 13, identified from death certificate reports.

Hospitalizations continue to climb back up toward the highs of the summer peak. 

The number of active outbreaks in Mississippi long-term care facilities, which had dropped to as low as 105 on November 9th, is now up to 173.

As cases surge in Mississippi, and across the country, health officials are urging you to take the proper steps to ensure that your Thanksgiving celebration doesn’t lead to increased transmission.
