MSDH reports 173 new cases of COVID-19 with 5 deaths

For the second straight day, the Mississippi State Department of Health has reported less than 200 new cases of COVID-19. 

This morning, the MSDH confirmed 173 new cases of COVID-19 with an additional 5 Mississippians passing away from the virus. This brings the state’s total number of cases up to 9,674 with 435 COVID-19-related deaths. 

The department now estimates that 6,268 people have recovered from COVID-19 in Mississippi – a recovery rate of nearly 65%. 

After Mississippi saw the largest one-day rise in its total number of cases on Friday (404), the reported number of cases on Saturday fell to 288 and 123 on Sunday.
