The Mississippi State Department of Health is reporting just 476 new cases of COVID-19.

Today’s report — the second straight day well below 1,000 new cases after 576 were reported Sunday — brings Mississippi’s total up to 67,649. With the confirmation of *16 additional deaths, 1,912 Mississippians have now passed away from the virus.

MSDH Note: 9 confirmed COVID-19 related deaths occurred between July 13 and August 2, identified from death certificate reports.

Hospital data from today’s report has not yet been made available by the MSDH.

As a new week begins, remember that an order, issued by State Health Officer Dr, Thomas Dobbs last week, remains in effect stating that “all persons residing in Mississippi must immediately home-isolate on first knowledge of infection with COVID-19.”

Additionally, the governor’s statewide mask mandate remains in effect. As a result of the order, masks must be worn by all Mississippians in schools, businesses, indoor public spaces, and outdoor public spaces where consistent social distancing is not possible.
