MSDH reports 5-day cumulative total of new COVID-19 cases

Following software issues at the Mississippi State Department of Health, health officials have released the 5-day total of new COVID-19 cases. 

The MSDH is reporting a combined total of 1,646 new COVID-19 cases in Mississippi from June 17 to June 21 with 40 additional deaths. The state’s total number of cases now sits at 22,287 and 978 Mississippians have passed away from the virus. 

Currently, there are 76 active outbreaks in Mississippi long-term care facilities. 

After hospitalizations hit a peak of 516 over the weekend, they have decreased to 485. 

According to the MSDH, 17,242 Mississippians have recovered from COVID-19.
