MSDH reports 653 new cases of COVID-19, 9 additional deaths

The Mississippi State Department of Health is reporting 653 new cases of COVID-19. 

At least 650 new cases have been reported each day this week, with today’s report bringing the state’s total up to 27,900 cases. 1,082 Mississippians have passed away from the virus following this morning’s confirmation of 9 additional deaths. 

Now at 98, the number of active outbreaks in Mississippi long-term care facilities also continues to rise. The number dropped to as low as 76 back on June 22nd. 

Hospitalizations increased for the third straight day, but ICU bed and ventilator usage did decrease. 

As of Monday, 19,388 Mississippians had recovered from COVID-19.
