MSDH reports weekend total of 482 new COVID-19 cases

The Mississippi State Department of Health is reporting a 3-day total of 482 new COVID-19 cases. 

The latest report—which covers May 21-23—brings the state’s total number of cases up to 316,754. With the confirmation of *6 additional deaths, 7,285 Mississippians have passed away from the virus. 

*MSDH Note: Two deaths occurred between February 23 and May 7, identified from death certificate reports.

Overall hospitalizations saw a slight increase coming out of the weekend. 

Last week, it was announced that more than one million Mississippians have received at least one dose of the COVID-19 vaccine. Entering the week, 884,544 residents are fully vaccinated.
