The 2025-26 oyster season will soon open in Mississippi, beginning at sunrise on Oct. 13.
According to the Mississippi Department of Marine Resources, daily harvest limits will be set at 15 sacks per commercial tonging vessel and 20 sacks per commercial dredging vessel. All recreational harvesters are limited to three sacks per licensed resident per seven-day period.
The areas approved and conditionally approved for the harvest of oysters are as follows:
- Area I B: includes St. Joe reefs
- Area II A: includes the Pass Christian Tonging Box
- Area II B: includes Waveland and St. Stanislaus reefs
- Area II E: includes Henderson Point reefs
- Area II F: includes the southern portion of the Pass Christian Tonging Box
- Area II G: includes Pass Marianne reefs
- Area II H: includes Telegraph reefs
- Area II I: includes Pelican reefs

MDMR will have check stations located at 104 South Market Street in the Pass Christian Harbor and at 5200 Shipyard Road in Bayou Caddy. All harvesters must check in prior to harvest at a designated check station.
